Manual transmission problem - hard to shift - syncrhomesh? vw mkiv-a4 tdis (ve and pd) this past weekend i was driving my 01 golf w/ 56k and i got the feeling that shifting was more difficult than usual. the problem is that i'm not "sure" it's harder, but it really seems like it.. Volkswagen jetta gear problems i have an 01 manual jetta. for the past month it was having trouble shifting into second gear. at first it would occasionally miss the gear. it wouldnt grind or make noises it just would never engage the gear. it slowly started getting worse and got to the point where it was a 5050 chance it would get into second. Re: problems getting into gear at times (manual transmission).. so i got ready to do what they did in that video and was d: very very sad to find out that since i have a 1999.5 jetta it has the older style mk3 parts.
